Joburg Heritage Walking Tour - Historic Esselen Park

Discover the history of South Africa’s railways on this visit to Esselen Park in the East Rand. Esselen Park is a national monument and home to the Transnet School of Rail and the technical and management training centre for the South African railways. Stops on the tour include the neo-classical campus which was built during World War Two by Italian prisoners of war and a chance to look at the original Park Station canopy that used to cover the station’s platforms.<br /> <br /> The tour lasts approximately three hours and booking is essential. The tour starts at Esselen Park on Church Street in Kempton Park.
