Joburg's leading jazz club The Orbit presents this fantastic evening of iconic jazz sounds as two local legends join forces - celebrated trumpeter Feya Faku and award-winning contemporary jazz band Kesivan and The Lights. ​This unique evening promises to be a musical exploration of genres and influences including heartfelt homages to icons like Bheki Mseleku and John Coltrane, ancient Indian classical music and Afrobeat poly-rhythmic sounds.<br /> <br /> After winning the Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz award in 2009, in 2010 drummer and composer Kesivan Naidoo released his first SAMA-nominated album I<em>nstigators of the Revolution </em>with his band The Lights, a tribute to some of his favourite musicians the likes of Bheki Mseleku and John Coltrane. He then went on to perform across the world, including at New York's legendary Carnegie Hall in 2014, and is an acclaimed performer on the international jazz scene.<br /> <br /> Feya Faku has shared stages with iconic South African musicians such as Barney Rachabane and Mcoy Mrubata and remains a powerful force in the South African contemporary jazz scene.
