Man of the Hour is Samson Mnisi's new solo show at Studio Nxumalo in partnership with Asisebenze Art Atelier.

Mnisi paints abstract symbols and geometry to create dense and chaotic works which explore South Africa and its psyche. One of South Africa's most singular artists his abstractions show a frenzied creative process in which the artist is unafraid to move from controlled lines to heavily laden swatches of colour, and as a viewer you feel compelled to linger and try decipher his coded symbols.

Mnisi's work depicts South Africa as noisy and bold, yet also intricate and beautiful. His paintings show its vivacity and complexity and are a reflection of his relationship with it. They show a man unbounded by convention and unafraid to push his creativity to its limits.
