Leaping into spring in radiant colour, Stevenson gallery in Parktown North presents a new solo exhibition of works on paper by Moshekwa Langa. This collection was created in 2020 and 2021, a transition period for the artist who moved from temporary spaces through the various lockdowns in Bakenberg, Paris, Johannesburg, and then finally alighted on a permanent home studio in the city of Amsterdam.

Titled Sanctuary, this body of work celebrates the ability of artworks to provide rest and create a mental space that offers the means to process feelings of loss and repossession. Langa's vibrant colour palette focuses on forms of radiance. From the solar colours illustrating the shapes of skyscrapers to oceanic shades illustrating rivers and alluding also to people, objects, and nature.
