In a country where over 60% of the youth report mental health challenges, Words That Heal offers a space for support, hope, and healing. Words That Heal is a heartwarming initiative by Sandton City in collaboration with the Riky Rick Foundation. Launched to honour the late hip hop artist’s legacy and his passion for “artivism” – where art meets activism – this campaign opens up powerful conversations around mental health in South Africa.

You're encouraged to share a message of encouragement with someone who might need it – simply send a voice note to +27 63 980 5816 via WhatsApp before Fri, Aug 8, 2025. Your words could be featured in a collaborative song of hope, to be released on streaming platforms later this year. Proceeds will go towards providing free therapy for youth, driven by the Riky Rick Foundation.

The campaign will evolve during Mental Health Month (September and October), with an immersive in-centre experience at Sandton City. Expect a moving tribute to Riky Rick’s final album, and a pop-up retail space offering limited-edition merch in collaboration with artist Samurai Farai. Merchandise sales will fund ongoing youth mental wellness projects.

As Riky Rick once said, “Please believe in young people. Give them as many opportunities as they need to prove themselves.” Words That Heal is just that – an opportunity to uplift, connect, and inspire a new generation.
