This heritage centre in the historic neighbourhood of Sophiatown, the 1950s home of South Africa's Drum generation of artists, poets and musicians, also serves as an intimate jazz concert venue with Sophiatown Jazz Encounters usually taking place on the last Friday of each month and regularly starring some of the leading names in jazz in Joburg.
Guests are invited to bring their own drinks and snacks to the concert. The centre will provide glasses and ice. Concerts start at 20:00.

Lago born and raised jazz trumpeter Etuk Ubong is a young African jazz musician of note who has played alongside major African jazz innovators such as Victor Olaiya, Femi Kuti and Nduduzo Makhathini and many more. Fresh from his European tour, Etuk Ubong comes to Sophiatown The Mix to promote his new album Battle for Peace which seeks to spread a message of 'hope, love and peace' through the medium of jazz.

US-based South African jazz and wold music collective Sharon Katz and the Peace Train return to South African shores for a performance at Sophiatown The Mix, where they are joined by local master bassist Mlungisi Gegana.
