The Bioscope independent cinema in Maboneng screens The Harvesters (Die Stropers), the feature film debut from Greek-South African filmmaker-writer Etienne Kallos. The tense, emotionally fraught Afrikaans-language drama follows the relationship between Janno, the eldest son of a fiercely religious family from a Free State farm, and Pieter, a secretive stranger and orphan who moves into his house. The film explores the intersection of masculinity, personal identity, heritage and familial approval and is screened in Afrikaans with English subtitles.
