Originally held on Linden's main street, this festive pop-up market has far outgrown its original premises and now takes place down the road at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. Spread over a large contained area of the park the market boasts more than 150 stalls plus a stage with live music.

The Linden Market's annual Christmas Edition is happening on Sat Nov 28 and Sun Nov 29.

Founded as a platform to promote local artists, designers, and artisanal food producers, The Linden Market places an emphasis on promoting small businesses, ethically and sustainably sourced materials and artisanal techniques. In addition to dozens of stalls selling hand-crafted items, unique fashion and decor, jewellery and gifts, there's always a huge selection of delicious gourmet food stalls too, plus a variety of wines and bubbly, local craft beers and craft gin pop-up bars.
Colourful handbags at The Linden Market
Here's a look at some of the many highlights to look forward to at this special bumper Christmas edition:

Pre-Loved is Re-Loved
The 'Pre-Loved is Re-Loved Block' is a partnership with Goethe-Institut dedicated exclusively to pre-loved items. From furniture to fashion, books and accessories, the new thrifting selection of stalls is part of the market's ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable shopping and conscious living. At this edition the Pre-Loved is Re-Loved Block also hosts a vintage car display, a pop-up tattoo caravan operated by Ting Tattoo, a resident retro DJ, and graffiti artist @robdartworks who will be giving any pre-loved items brought in by visitors a new look on request.

TLM Fashion Show
At the Christmas edition the market's many unique fashion brands will be on display at a special 14:00 fashion show in the new dedicated fashion and accessories area of the market.
The Linden Market Tea Garden
TLM Tea Garden
The new Tea Garden which debuted in the spring is back for the Christmas edition with the finest teas on sale from
Setsong, an artisanal community-led tea label from Limpopo which uses hand-crafted infusions made from indigenous African flora found in Limpopo.

Kids Activities & Entertainment
There are lots of activities for kids at the market including ceramic painting and tie-dye shirt making, face painting, stilt walkers and a jumping castle.

Date-a-dog
Always a popular element of The Linden Market is the chance to 'date-a-dog'. Date-a-Dog is an initiative to help rescue dogs find a new home, with visitors getting to take homeless pups out for a short walk around the market, give them some love and if the "date" goes well, start the process of adoption. If you already have a dog you are also welcome to bring it to the market, just make sure to keep them on their leash while inside the market area.

Festive Workshops
Getting geared up for Christmas there are a range of creative workshops to take part in at the market
Sat Nov 27 at 10:00 and 13:00 a Christmas Wreath making workshop with sustainable florists Teneale (costs R700 including all materials, book here),
