Sounds, images, and materials overlap in Iadema's work, which is a constant unfolding of destruction and construction. Iadema draws from Hans Blumenberg's concept of the "shipwreck with spectator", a metaphor for humanity's often contradictory needs, for safety and risk, detachment and connection, action and thought. Through a wide range of mediums, Iadema allows us to occupy both positions and ultimately become both shipwreck and spectator.
