Art collector and philanthropist Jack Ginsberg began collecting "artist's books" (artwork in the form of books) in the early 1970s, and since then has amassed a world-renowned collection of more than 3,000 pieces, plus thousands of additional items related to this contemporary art form. In 2019 Ginsberg donated his collection of artist's books to the Wits Art Museum (WAM), which has been accommodated in the Jack Ginsberg Centre for the Book Arts, a new addition to the WAM archives.

On Sat Feb 19 at 12:00 Jack Ginsberg leads a guided walkabout of the centre, talking visitors through the many highlights from this remarkable collection.

Note that space on the walkabout is very limited so we recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment. In the morning before you arrive make sure to also have already completed the Wits Covid screening form on your phone. Dial the code *120*8501# and follow the prompts.
