Everard Read Gallery in Rosebank's Keyes Art Mile presents two exhibitions this month, by two artists who both have a passion for South Africa's Kruger Park.

Oil painter Walter Voigt grew up in the mountainous Lowveld Escarpment region near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, not far from the Kruger Park and has long been enamoured with the area. Voigt's moody, atmospheric oil paintings depict the more mysterious and dramatic corners of the Kruger, highlighting the area's inspiring scenery and its sense of wonder. As he explains; "This is not an attempt to record the landscape but rather an effort to allow the viewer to experience the particular light that is unique to the southern parts of Africa.”

Latvian born painter Roswitha von Glehn is also enamoured with the South African bush, particularly the Kruger, depicting both animals and landscapes in her oil paintings and watercolours.

Exhibition opening event Thu Jan 25 at 18:00.
