If city centres across Slovenia seem a bit empty during the winter season, that's because an inordinate number of Slovenes choose to spend their snowy days and nights at one of the tiny nation's countless ski resorts or almost equally numerous spa centres.

For the third year in a row our readers to chose their favourites. Rogla managed to keep the title of Best Ski Resort in Slovenia for a second year in a row, while the 2011 winner Kanin slid even further down the rankings. In the spa and wellness category, Terme Zreče claimed the top prize, while last year's winner Terme Olimia in Podčetrtek finished a strong.
