Whether it's due to its proximity to Italy, centuries spent as part of the Austro-Hungarian empire and/or simply the abundance of cafés around town, one thing is certain: Ljubljana has long had a vibrant coffee culture. However, in recent years the coffee scene in the Slovene capital has taken its game to the next level, with some superb new cafés and local artisanal roasters feverishly percolating into the mainstream. Thus, is should come as no surprise that this autumn will see the launch of Ljubljana's very own Coffee Festival, which in addition to bringing both domestic and international coffee roasters together under one roof, will also feature a Barista Battle Challenge, Latte Art Throwdown and much more. The two-day event will also include some of of the city's best street food as well as local craft beers and cocktails.
