The name alone had us trying to guess what could possibly be in store here - for those in the know 'łódź podwodna' in Polish means submarine, so a slight play on words here, which works a treat in raising people's intrigue to visit! And quite right too, it's down a set of stairs at the side of the building at ul. Piotrkowska 146, so not easy to spot. Now, the interior is quite basic and has that traditional British pub feel (it was formerly the John Bull pub!), whereas the menu is filled with traditional Polish food with a modern twist. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu, which had all manners of options, from fantastic meats and purees to match (including cauliflower!). The portions are just right, the menu is focused on a few core dishes and the food tastes great - the chef clearly knows his stuff!
