Garrison Cemetery

Al. Armii Poznań (Citadel Park) ,   Winogrady         more than a year ago
Located on Citadel Hill, the Garrison Cemetery originally accommodated graves of those who perished fighting in the 1818-1819 Wielkopolska Uprising and the Polish-Soviet War (1919-1921). Many of the tombstones were destroyed by Soviet troops converging on the Nazi-held Citadel in 1945, and it wasn't until the 1970s that some semblance of order was brought back to the necropolis. To get here, catch trams 12, 3 and 15 from 'Most Teatralny' and get off at 'Armii Poznań'.
