Jan Lubrański was an extraordinary bishop of Poznań, a representative of the intellectual elite of the time. What made him exceptional was his awareness of the fact that numerous investments in the field of culture and education must go hand in hand with attention paid to the most mundane matters. Bishop Lubrański collected valuable works of art and made sure churches were renovated, but at the same time he funded hospitals, waterworks and street pavements. This multi-faceted approach to reality is reflected in the dedication inscribed on his tombstone, referring to Lubrański as an expert in "divinis et humanis literis" (divine and human books). The upcoming temporary exhibition celebrates the 500th anniversary of his death.
