Jan Lebenstein's exhibition is divided into two parts, first featuring his Figury Osiowe (Axial Figures), the compositions (drawn and painted) depicting vertically oriented, highly simplified human figures. The second displays the artist's works on paper, drawings on notebook cards created in the comfort of the studio, more casual and intimate. What makes Lebenstein stand out from many 20th century artists, who shied away from narration in their paintings, drawings, and prints, Lebenstein not only tended towards anecdote but was also an illustrator of literary works. His achievements in this sphere include a series of outstanding illustrations - to George Orwell's "Animal Farm," and a biblical passages from the "Book of Job," the "Apocalypse," and the "Book of Genesis."
