In true Sopot form, the city's annual New Year's Town is essentially the afterparty to Gdańsk and (in most years, but not 2022) Gdynia's Christmas markets. Kicking off in that stuffed, sleepy time after Christmas and before New Year's Eve - and lasting until mid-January when other festive markets have closed - Sopot's holiday town features Christmas lights and festive decorations (from Dec. 6), an ice rink (from mid-December lasting until end of February), and free rides on the historic Venetian carousel (from Dec. 23). There will also be about 16 handsome wooden stalls selling sweets, pajda, mulled wine, hot chocolate, traditional foods as well as gifts, gadgets and souvenirs. There will also be concerts, performances and other family attractions throughout the course of the fair so visit central Sopot in the new year to stave off those winter blues while you can.
