Tea & Antique is a lovely spot tucked into a neighbourhood corner of Bedfordview. It's a Chinese tea garden meets antique shop meets family run restaurant. Started by Nini Zhao and her husband Jonsen Wong, it has quickly become a popular spot for a leisurely lunch or early dinner. The two make a perfect pair. Zhao bakes beauiful Chinese cakes and runs the front of house and Wong is not just an avid collector of the antiques on display; he also cooks the delicious food coming from the kitchen.

Tea service here is quite the affair. Choose between cold or hot teas and enjoy the elaborate way in which each is presented. Also on the menu is a selection of dim sum and traditional Chinese meals. The menu changes often but luckily staples like dumplings and steamed egg custard buns are a delicious constant you'll want to come back for.

We recommend you finish your meal with one of Zhao's dainty Chinese cakes (top tip: ask for the peach and oolong tea variety). They're almost too pretty to cut but the Instagram-worthy pictures you're able to snap of them will leave you smiling long after they're devoured. It's the small touches like note cards with descriptions and stories about your chosen treats and tea and the beautiful crockery and tea sets that really sets a visit to Tea & Antique apart. There's also a small shop to purchase clothing, various imported goods, and bags of tea in case you'd like to recreate the experience at home.
