Małopolska Garden of the Arts

  ul. Rajska 12 ,   Old Town          (+48) 12 375 21 50     more than a year ago
Located in an eye-popping, award-winning rusted-metal-and-glass structure enveloping refurbished 19th-century Austrian stables, the Małopolska Garden of the Arts (or 'MOS' as it's called locally) is one of the newer additions to Kraków’s cultural scene, supplementing and very much standing in contrast to the Baroque Juliusz Słowacki Theatre. The programme of this modern multimedia venue aims to make art more accessible to young people and others who are oftentimes left out for reasons including age, reduced mobility, financial status, living outside the city, or not speaking Polish. No discrimination for days of the week, either; something’s happening daily, be it a theatrical/dance performance, a film screening, lecture, or workshop. In addition to a theatre and cinema, the building also hosts a gallery, and several branches of the public library, including Arteteka - Kraków's loaning library for DVDs, CDs, boardgames, comics, video and computer games (in other words, the best branch), which itself often hosts events.
