Mellaney Roberts' solo at Berman Contemporary at 223 Jan Smuts Creative Hub is both an exploration of her personal lineage and an archive of the collective memory of the Baviaanskloof Coloured community. Waar Bloed Nie Loop Nie runs from Sat Jun 28 – Sun, Aug 24, 2025. 

"In this body of work, I am the artist yet also archaeologist, I am a community member in search of an answer," says Roberts. Primarily using clay, Roberts uses her tactile and fragile works to explore the community of which she is a part, unearthing the forgotten memories and histories which bind the present together. Intrinsically tied to the land and ancestral knowledge she comes from, Roberts creates deeply ephemeral spaces while solidifying them in her chosen form.
