Zaprešić castles

more than a year ago
Gornja Bistra
Behind the castle are some amazing bells. Call Škrlin Marica, the bell-ringer, for a visit.

Jakovlje
The art family Petrić live and work here. Every summer there's an art festival here, each artist leaving something behind - you can imagine the amazing variety of neat stuff.

Januševac
6km west of the Zaprešić, it's from the classic period (1830). A special landmark, there's also a great park out in the front of it.

Laduč
7km out of Zaprešić, it was built in 1882. There's a beautiful French garden and all the art was completed by Ivan Kausen. It's currently an orphanage.

Lužnica
From the Baroque period in the 18th century, it was home to the family Rauch. Now it's an archive to many famous Croatian documents. Call Mother Lilioza for a group tour.

Novi dvori Jelačićevi
1.5km from the centre, this castle is the grave-site of the famous Croatian family Jelacie who lived here from 1611-1851. Much of the stuff inside the castle was stolen during WWII and some of the graves were desecrated. Family photo gallery.
