As part of its 180th anniversary, the Archaeological Museum Zagreb opens its Lapidarium this summer as a peaceful green oasis in the city center. From 9–18 June, enjoy guided walks, plant workshops, and talks on ancient and medicinal flora. Open all summer, it’s a perfect spot to relax and soak in history. Meanwhile, dive into Croatia’s underwater past with Peaks of the Depths (open until 3 June), an immersive exhibition featuring shipwrecks, ancient tools, and hidden Adriatic treasures come explore and uncover the secrets beneath the waves!

The Archaeological Museum in Zagreb is one of the most important archaeological institutions in Southeast Europe, offering a rich journey through thousands of years of history. The museum houses hundreds of thousands of artifacts, including the famous Zagreb Mummy, wrapped in the world’s longest preserved Etrusčan text, and the iconic Vučedol Dove, a masterpiece of prehistoric art. Visitors can also explore remarkable ancient monuments such as the Lumbarda Psephisma and one of Europe’s largest collections of ancient coins. The museum’s Lapidarium garden provides a peaceful setting among Roman stone altars, inscriptions, and sculptures, offering a perfect spot to reflect on Croatia’s rich cultural and archaeological heritage.
