Ecco at the Atlantis by Giardino Hotel is one of the most exquisite addresses in town. After all, it didn't get its two Michelin stars by chance. While a live band plays at the bar, all of the real action is happening on the plates here. We chose six courses from the menu (you can order from three to eight for 150 - 235Sfr), but before we began our culinary journey we were greeted by three different amuse-bouches, one of them a phenomenal-tasting poached oyster (the cress as an add-on for the bread was left for us to be cut freshly on our own). Although we enjoyed all of the dishes, the highlight of the meal had to be the guinea fowl with carrot and cedar and after dessert we were sent off with some sweet farewells from the kitchen. In short, Chef Stefan Heilemann manages to produce authentic, refined cuisine while avoiding the pitfalls of creating something too chichi. Ecco is certainly a stunner for the senses where dining becomes an event, so be prepared to part with some of your hard-earned money, an act that you won't regret.
