The signature product of the Zurich-based Freitag brothers is still the Freitag messenger bag made of old truck tarpaulins and used car seat belts. They've been at it since 1993 and have spawned many imitators. Because a tarp can only be cut once, each of the bags looks unique. You'll find these bags in many shops around town, but the flagship store is definitely worth a visit, as it's made of 19 old freight containers stacked up to create a tower. On top of the tower (accessible when the shop is closed) you can spot the trucks on the neighbouring 'highway' bridge across Zurich and be inspired just as the Freitag brothers were when they had the same view from their living room window in the early 1990s.
