Shilla specialises in Korean barbecue where you yourself become the chef and cook the meat and veggies on a grill, which is conveniently set into the table. As a starter we tried a haemul pajeon, which is a kind of leek-based pancake covered in tiny prawns – a true delight. For meat we chose kotsal jumulleok, rib eye cubes in a fruity garlic marinade. We grilled it for only a short period of time and the flavour and tenderness of the meat was extraordinary. With the barbecue come lots of Korean sides like kimchi (fermented cabbage), salads, rice and more. A tasty rice and pumpkin cream arrived with the bill, which was the perfect ending to our Korean experience.
