Snow hiking and sledging in Brunni - Schlittelstübli

  Alpthal / Brunni      (+41) 79 520 30 60     more than a year ago

On this rather insider day trip you can take a walk in the snow, whiz down the sledge run (approx. 2km) and then warm up with hot coffee, mulled wine or even a fondue in a real mountain hut, the Schlittelstübli. But before the fun you will have to do a little work - the hut and the run can only be reached on foot. From the bus stop Alpthal Stei, where you can also park your car, a path signposted Schlittelstübli gets you to the hut in 15 minutes, where you can rent sledges or sit down to a meal. From the hut to the top of the run it’s another 50 minutes walk. The prepared sledge run passes by the hut, so you can pop in for drinks, for instance a Kafi Güx, as coffee with liquor is known around here. The sledge run is within the ski resort Brunni-Alpthal (www.brunnialpthal.ch), which is perfect for beginners and with kids. To get there, take a train to Einsiedeln (change in Wädenswil), there change to the bus with destination Brunni. Get off at Alpthal Stei (duration approx. 75 minutes). Check the web for weather and snow conditions before you go.
