Located in an old farmhouse on Zürichberg on the edge of town, Tobelhof serves traditional Swiss food in the rustic atmosphere of a country inn. The local speciality geschnetzeltes with rösti was excellent: the small pieces of veal were tender, the cream sauce had a pleasant consistency and the rösti (hash browns) was crispy and firm. We were a little more daring in our choice of appetiser and tried the oxtail duo (the fried oxtail was truly divine, crispy and flavourful, but the clear broth could have been a touch stronger). The service was attentive and the iced coffee for dessert was sweet and delicious. In the summer it also offers a gorgeous terrace and getting there is easier than you might think. Take tram 5 or 6 (12 minutes from main station) to Kirche Fluntern and then bus 751 will drop you off right in front of the restaurant in only five minutes.
