Specialising in hand-crafted nalewki - sweet regional liqueurs made from exactly three ingredients: alcohol, fruit and sugar - this truly unique bar combines an old-fashioned approach to drinking and distilling alcohol with a modern approach to dispensing it. Five standard flavours - wiśnia (cherry), agrest (gooseberry), malina (raspberry), porzeczka (black current) and cytryna (lemon) - are available all the time, while more (including śliwka (plum) and rabarbar (rhubarb)) rotate on and off the menu. Get these tantalising tinctures decanted straight from special pipes in the ceiling in quantities of 100, 200 or 500ml, or a round of five in 50ml shots. At a mild 18% alcohol, these drinks are generally for sipping, not shooting, and their appeal will largely depend on how sweet you like your liqueurs.

Located right on Plac Szczepański next to one of the most contemporary (and pretentious, and juvenile) venues in Kraków - Bubble Toast, Niewódka, by contrast, inhabits a certain maturity and timelessness, where the frivolities of modern drinking trends (seen next door) have been cast off in favour of the old school earnestness of a straight, stiff drink in civil company. Dimly lit like a Dostoevskian dram house with black walls, simple furniture and rows of uniform bottles, DJs drop in every Saturday evening and Niewódka also offers some regional snacks to go with their exclusive tipples - all of which can be bought by the bottle to go.
