The unlikely duo of Charlie Moyo and Gerald Garner makes up LocalPlaces. Together they run tours with a rich storytelling focus and city immersions and events in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Charlie is primarily based in Johannesburg, where the business is known as JoburgPlaces and Gerald in Cape Town as IkapaPlaces.

The city of gold historically has been known as the place of migrants, who flock here in search of opportunity and to make dreams come true. JoburgPlaces walking tours offer a unique look at the city, taking in  Marshalltown's mining history, the Fashion District and Little Addis Ethiopian district, amongst other key neighbourhoods.

There are half-day tours available, or combine two half day tours for a full day encounter. Private walking tours are also an option if you prefer a more intimate touring experience with a minimum of four guests. 

Most Joburg tours leave from JSE Newtown, 17 Diagonal Street (cnr Pritchard). Starting point for your tour will be provided in  booking confirmation letter.
