Bucharest

Old Jewish District

share
The Old Jewish District is the area roughly described by Bulevardul Unirii to the south, Bulevardul Carol to the north and Bulvardul IC Bratianu to the west. Much of the area was razed during  the demolitions of the 1980s, but plenty remains, including the main synagogues and the Jewish Theatre. The myriad streets with mainly one-storey houses and just the odd block (often art deco in design) here and there are a reminder of how much of Bucharest looked before 1984.
