In the spring of 1978 Mihai Olos conceived the Romanian thought for Germany and the evil eye (A Homage to Rilke and Beuys) performance in his artist studio at the University of Gießen. The homage reunites a complex system of references, from catholic iconography, Romanian ritualistic practices, the romantic legend surrounding the death of poet Rainer Maria Rilke and the progressive ideas pertaining to the concept of the social sculpture developed by the artist's contemporary, Joseph Beuys.

Image credit: Mihai Olos, Romanian thought for Germany and the evil eye (A Homage to Rilke and Beuys), performance, Gießen, Germany, 1978.
