World Gdansk Reunion

Friday Jul 6 - Sunday Jul 8

Gdansk has a long and often tumultuous history with the 20th century particularly a time of great upheaval. The end of World War II saw the city in ruins and its population decimated. The last 70 years have seen the city and its population rebuilt and Gdansk once again a thriving city which welcomes people from all over the world. Today's Gdanszczanie have made the city their own but have also recognised that this is a city to where many family stories can be traced. The World Gdansk Reunion was started in 2002 in an attempt to build bridges between the Gdansk of today and that of the past and to make everyone who feels a connection with this great city welcome. Held every four years, 2018 sees the 5th edition of this event and there is a whole series of events designed to allow people to meet, to learn more about their city or the city of their forebears and to promote dialogue and increased understanding.

The most popular part of the event is the taking of a large group photograph in Dlugi Targ at 12:00 on Saturday.

A full list of events and times can be found below. Note that the exhibitions opening on Friday morning will run all weekend.
