Sobieszewo Island is a district south-east of central Gdańsk. It is separated from the mainland by the Martwa Wisła (ENG: Dead Vistula River) and it's north shore looks onto the Baltic Sea. Here, the beach is popular with locals, who are often seeking an alternative to the more touristy areas of Brzeźno and Sopot. There is also a wildlife reserve, where several species of native birds can be observed from viewing platforms (don't forget your binoculars!)
