2024 Fête de la Musique
Saturday Jun 22 12:00–22:00
16 Viljoen St, Lorentzville
The 2024 Fête de la Musique takes place on Sat, Jun 22 at Victoria Yards and promises to be an exciting event filled with family-friendly concerts. The festival embraces an array of musical genres, and this year, it introduces slam poetry, which not only enriches the diversity on display but also highlights the impressive growth of South Africa's slam poetry scene. This powerful form of self-expression has become a dynamic force that captivates audiences with its unique blend of spoken word, emotion, and social commentary.
Headlining this year's festival are artists Stogie T, renowned for his lyrical prowess and dynamic stage presence in the African hip-hop scene; Muneyi, whose music is a heartfelt fusion of old Tshivenda folktales and contemporary influences, drawing inspiration from his grandmother, human behaviour, love, and upbringing; and Maleh, a soulful singer and songwriter from Lesotho who seamlessly blends the rich musical traditions of West and Southern Africa.
There will be a special performance by the Haitian-Canadian artist Melissa Laveaux whose self-assured style combines elements of folk and indie pop. Supporting acts include the eclectic sounds of Dj Napi Tapi, the soulful R&B tunes of Rorisang Sechele, and the innovative sounds of GHXST Bunny.
Don't miss out on this fun day of live music!
