This unique theatrical production in aid of the Dramatic Need charity was inspired by a similar event in the UK in 2010 in which leading thespians, including Nicole Kidman and Benedict Cumberbatch, took to the stage for a special charity production of Children's Monologues, a collection of soliloquies based on the true stories of children living in rural South Africa.
This South African production also stars leading local actors, actresses, dancers and musicians including Jamie Bartlett, Robert Whitehead, Sonia Radebe and Tshepo Mnogma.

Children's Monologues brings alive the true stories of more than 200 children in rural South Africa as they try to come to terms with moments that changed their lives forever. For many of these kids that means searching for answers in the aftermath of rape, death, and injustice and for others it is about trying to hold on to a memory that still inspires happiness. For this production the Market Theatre has carefully selected 15 of the soliloquies to be performed on stage.
The proceeds from tickets sales will go towards Dramatic Need, a charity which runs an arts and and culture centre in a farm in the very poor rural community of Viljoenskroon in the Free State, which supports children such as those whose stories are told in Children's Monologues.
