Known as "South Africa's most comprehensive and authoritative motoring awards programme", the Cars.co.za Awards was established in 2015 to give recognition to the best purchasing propositions in the new-vehicle market, as well as identify the Brand of the Year. The gala event and awards ceremony on Thu, Feb 27, 2025 marks the ninth iteration, while this is the second year of its collaboration with ABSA.
The best rides of the year (2024/2025 Awards)
For 2024/2025, the Brand of the Year award was jointly awarded to Toyota and Lexus, the former also having won the categories of best Budget Crossover, Compact Family Car, and Leisure Double Cab.Suzuki walked away with the award for best Budget Car, while Volkswagen dominated in the Compact Hatch category. Executive SUV, Premium SUV, and Performance Car went to BMW, while best Family Car was won by Kia.
The awards for Premium Crossover and Electric Vehicle went to Mini Countryman, Adventure SUV to Land Rover, and Ultimate Double Cab – a vehicle so big it needs two parking spaces at the mall – to Ford.
The Cars.co.za consumer experience
If you missed the gala event, fear not, because the four-wheeled Fri, Feb 28 – Sun, Mar 2, you can join in on the Cars.co.za consumer experience at their showroom at Mall of Africa. For three days, the 13 category winners will be on display, giving you the chance to inspect and test drive some of the best cars in the country.You can also get advice from Cars.co.za's experts, rub shoulders with sales representatives and some of the award's judges, and chat with finance specialists from ABSA if you're looking to upgrade your ride.
Competition time
Fun for the whole family, the event also includes live entertainment, the ABSA 'Caraoke' bar, surprise giveaways, and games. There's also a competition where you could be the lucky winner of one of 10 weekend getaways worth R10,000. The prize includes bed and breakfast for two people for two nights at a destination chosen by ABSA, a voucher to cover your fuel costs, and the use of one of the Cars.co.za Awards' winning vehicles.HOW TO ENTER
