August House is an Art Deco-era building in downtown Joburg that is home to the studios of dozens of exciting contemporary artists from all over Africa. August House has been a creative hub for many years and has played host to the artist studios of some of the biggest names in South African contemporary art including Nelson Makamo and Mary Sibande.

The building isn't usually open to the wider public and so their regular open day events present a unique opportunity to meet with the artists, engage with their work, learn more about the creative process and buy their artworks directly.

This Sunday the pan-African artist collective hosts an open day and group exhibition featuring the works of more than 60 artists who all have studio spaces in the building. Top artists involved in the August House open day include major names like Vusi Beauchamp, Sizwe Khoza, Benon Lutaaya, Rhett Martyn , Bronwyn Lace, Themba Khumalo and Bambo Sibiya,

The event promises to be a lively social affair with live music, wine and coffee on sale and a live performance at 12:00 by Stompie Selibe's band.
