Featuring new paintings, sculpture and performance, controversial artist Ayanda Mabulu’s latest solo exhibition Ubuhle Bekhiwane Ziimpethu offers a sneak peek into a larger series of artworks Mabulu is set to reveal throughout the course of the year. Offering biting commentary on the fetishization of blackness and notions of liberation in post-war art, Mabulu challenges the viewer to abandon ideological dreams and delve deeper to expose the ongoing underlying black suffering. Mabulu's work is provocative and often very graphic, most certainly not for the faint hearted.
