In May 2021 concert promoters Bassline Live hosted their first live concerts of the year at Lyric Theatre over three consecutive weekends. The series of concerts was a glorious return to the stage for some of South Africa's most loved performers including singer-songwriters Msaki, Ami Faku and Zoe Modiga.

Now in July 2021 as South Africas enter lockdown again, recordings from the Bassline Live series are being made available to stream online from the comfort of your home. The concerts from the series will be streaming online every Saturday at 20:00, available to watch and listen to for free online at skyroomlive.com.

The July broadcast lineup runs as follows
Saturday July 3 at 20:00
Ami Faku and Urban Village
A rising local afro-soul sensation, Ami Faku was featured in Spotify's most-streamed South African artists of 2019, with fans falling in love with her deeply personal Xhosa-language album Imali, in which she brings forth her personal sentiments on love and emotions. Also performing is Soweto-based indie-folk and funk band Urban Village whose distinctive alternative music fuses traditional and contemporary rural and urban sounds.

Saturday July 10 at 20:00
Msaki and Moonga K
Indie-folk singer and guitarist Msaki’s husky and powerful vocals have garnered her comparisons to iconic writers and soul legends such as Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading. Her music is a beguiling mix of soulful folk, isiXhosa lyrics and symphonic movements as she spins tales of love, loss, revolution and hope. Also performing is Moonga K, known for his vivid fusion of introspective neo-soul, confessional alt-pop and elements of traditional R&B.

Zoe Modiga and ZU
Rounding out the series is the charismatic pianist and singer-songwriter Zoe Modiga. Durban-born Modiga became a household name following her audition on prime-time reality TV singing contest The Voice South Africa, going on to garner critical acclaim for her iconic debut album Yellow the Novel. We've seen Zoë perform live several times and we can vouch for the incredible energy she brings to the stage. Also performing is Soweto-born Afro-soul singer Zu.
