Soak in the summer sunshine in Calexico’s pretty olive tree-shaded courtyard while jamming along to some of South Africa’s best alternative bands and enjoying the bar's delicious and flavourful Californian-inspired food at their weekly Summer Haze concerts. This summer's live music schedule includes local favourites like the SAMA-nominated rock band Black Cat Bones and cult four-piece country-blues-rock band Miss Heidi and the Bar Room Bandits.

The summer gig concert at Calexico runs as follows:
Nov 3 | Miss Heidi and the Bar Room Bandits. Upbeat South African four-piece country-blues-rock band with a cult underground following.
Nov 10 | Saturday Soul
Nov 17 | Crystal Park. Seven piece country folk-rock band from Benoni on Joburg's east Rand.
Nov 24 | Black Cat Bones. One of South Africa’s best live bands (the band won the prestigious MK Award for the Best Live Act in 2013), The Black Cat Bones was formed in Pretoria where they have long led an underground sub-culture with a dedicated following and are much admired for their upbeat and highly danceable brand of blues-influenced rock.
Dec 8 | Piet Botha. Legendary Afrikaans singer-songwriter who has sometimes been referred to as the "godfather of South African rock".
Dec 15 | Georgetown. This fun and creative bluegrass-folk band from Pretoria make use of a range of both classic and wacky musical instruments in their music including acoustic guitar, piano, ukulele, upright bass, mandolin, harmonica, clarinet, saxophone, a washboard and a 1935 suitcase, to produce a brilliant feel-good foot-stomping sound.
