The Caravela Portuguese Festival celebrates Madeira Day, the annual Portuguese holiday marking the day on which Portugal gave autonomy to the Madeira Island. The festival promises to celebrate the sights, tastes and sounds of Portuguese culture. Headlining the festival is South African electronic-dance band Goodluck, also on the line-up is rock band Prime Circle, SAMA-award-winning house band Mi Casa, and DJ Euphonik. Expect traditional Portuguese dancing troupes, a market selling traditional Madeiran curios and gifts and of course plenty of delicious Portuguese food and wine to try and buy.
