For I Declare I Am Here photographer Caroline Suzman looks at Johannesburg as a place of shadows and dreams that its inhabitants have to navigate. The photographs place passersby next to buildings in Johannesburg mixing traditional dress, street fashion and different eras of Joburg's architecture. The result is snapshots of the complex ways culture, history, crime, ambition, migration and faith mix within Johannesburg with Suzman ultimately seeking to depict Johannesburg as a place of vitality and radical changeability.
