Thursday Oct 1 - Sunday Oct 18       163 Civic Blvd, Braamfontein

Bridging the new hybrid theatre space of live-streamed shows, Joburg Theatre kicks off spring with a 'virtual' performance of Zakes Mda's Dead End. The play explores the struggles of a young South African couple in the 1970s trying to navigate city life under Apartheid. This iconic work by the South African playwright was first presented by the Federated Union of Black Arts in Soweto in 1979 and later opened at the Market Theatre.

In line with current lockdown theatre regulations, the play will be streamed online from October 1 to 18 and will later open for a small paying audience to experience the production live in the theatre.

Tickets for the theatre streaming cost just R30 and can be bought online via webtickets.
