DOP, the Afrikaans-English theatrical debut from writer Retief Scholtz, opens at the Market Theatre this month. Directed by acclaimed actress and director Sylvaine Strike, DOP is the story of a troubled man with an excessive alcohol consumption problem who opens up to a stranger.

The play is set in a bar where Frank drowns his sorrows while engaging with Tim, the barman. As the day wears on the two strangers open up to each other about their lives through their endless bartalk reflecting on matters of life, regrets, fulfilled and unfulfilled dreams. As truth and emotions bubble up to the surface beyond the usual mindless chatter the pair gradually spill their secrets.

Performances, Tue-Sat at 20:15 and Sun at 15:15. Note the play mixes English and Afrikaans.
