SAMA nominated jazz singer Dumza Maswana performs hits from his recent album Molo in a show dedicated to the late jazz legend Victor Ntoni. Maswana’s music is a unique blend of western jazz and isiXhosa lyrics and he has worked with renowned jazz producers and Orbit regulars such as Luyanda Madope and pianist Ndudzo Makhathini, winner of the 2015 Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz.
Two years ago Maswana toured South Africa as part of a 30-piece orchestra for a project titled Tribute To Victor Ntoni. Maswana descibes Victor Ntoni (or Bo Vic) as one of his biggest inspirations; “In Bo Vic’s voice I found my voice. I needed to hear him to have confidence in my voice.” A fitting finale to The Orbit's month-long Heritage Month celebrations.
