Curator and gallery owner Monna Mokoena's contemporary gallery represents a number of local and international artists. A recent article in the Mail & Guardian labelled him "the country’s most influential black art dealer". Some names to look out for are Mary Sibande (winner of the Standard Bank Young Artist Award 2013) whose work is intensely concerned with notions of identity and in particular, the identity of the domestic worker; award-winning Blessing Ngobeni, an artist from Tzaneen, whose work critiques the ruling elite, and photographer Ayana V Jackson whose interest lies in depicting contemporary Africa and its diasporic societies.
