Joburg Heritage Walking Tour – Jacaranda Glory with snatches of War, Women

Local heritage preservation activists the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation kick off jacaranda season with a history walk through some grand old properties along the Parktown ridge. The walk starts in Seymour Avenue and visits two fine early 20th Century homes designed by acclaimed British architect Herbert Baker, making a stop to explore the gardens of the Kleine Schuur and Bishopskop mansions. The walk also takes in other grand properties along the way designed by Robert Howden, Aburrow and Treeby and Percival Hill Mitchelson, Waterson and Veale, all of whom are considered local architectural pioneers.
