#JoziWalks is an annual series of free walking tours initiated in May 2017 by the JDA (the Johannesburg Development Agency) in partnership with local community activists, tourism entrepreneurs, walking tour operators, and the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation. The aim of #JoziWalks is to create connections between communities by helping people to get out of their cars and onto the streets to walk, observe, connect and share insights and ideas through locally-led walks that present a personal take on the culture, social history and development of the city’s diverse neighbourhoods.

The annual #JoziWalks Walk My Jozi weekend is usually held in May, timed to coincide with the international Jane's Walks movement inspired by the influential urban activist and writer Jane Jacobs. This year, given the long lockdown of 2020, the JoziWalks walk series takes place in October instead.

All JoziWalks are free although you must first register online for your free tickets as space on each walk is limited.
