Legends Celebrating Mandela
Friday Jul 27 - Sunday Jul 29

Singer Dorothy Masuka first rose to fame as a jazz singer in 1950s Joburg before spending 31 years in exile due to the politically conscious nature of her music that openly challenged the Apartheid government. Her contemporary, singer, actress and musical arranger Abigail Kubeka also came of age in the 1950s Joburg jazz scene, first finding herself in the spotlight at the tender age of 16, when Miriam Makeba noticed her talent and invited her to join her group The Skylarks. The two jazz divas are joined on stage by SAMA Lifetime award-winning musician Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse (most famous for his iconic hit Burnout), jazz veteran Jonas Gwangwa, the Mzansi Youth Choir and a five-piece band.
